Here is a list of some of the resources we have enjoyed for family devotions. I am very particular about devotional materials for children and don't like anything that is watered down or presumes that children are incapable of understanding Truth, and this list reflects that. Check back! I will continue to update this list as we find new resources we enjoy. And if you have anything new to recommend, feel free to do so in the comments!
Story Bibles We Have Enjoyed
The Jesus Storybook Bible (Sally Lloyd-Jones)
The Children's Bible in 365 Stories (Mary Batchelor)
The Child's Story Bible (Catherine Vos)
On their sixth birthdays, Michelle and James received their first 'real' Bibles: The ESV Seek and Find Bible. Elizabeth will get hers around the same time, or whatever birthday comes next after she starts reading fairly fluently.
Children's Devotionals
God's Names and God's Promises (Sally Michael)
Comforting Hearts, Teaching Minds: Family Devotions Based on the Heidelberg Catechism (Starr Meade)
Family Worship
The Daily Office prayers and readings from The Trinity Mission
Christian Hero Biographies
The Little Lights series by Catherine Mackenzie (Christian hero biographies in simple picture book form)
Cameron Townsend: Good News in Every Language (Benge) (We look forward to trying some of the other Christian hero biographies in this series as well)
Simonetta Carr's Christian history picture book biographies
Missionary Stories with the Millers (Martin)
Holiday Reading: Advent and Christmas
Ann Voskamp's Jesse Tree ornaments (Note: I didn't particularly care for the reflections, but we have used the ornaments with the Scripture Reading only and enjoyed that.)
Advent with Handel's Messiah
We have also read the Old Testament portions of The Jesus Storybook Bible during Advent.
The Expected One (Scott James)
Holiday Reading: Lent and Easter
Lenten Lights (John Piper)
We usually present the children with a new volume from RC Sproul's series of children's picture books to read on Easter Sunday
